Martens’ work is deeply influenced by gothic imagery from Flemish masters, which he often reinterprets through a modern, digitally-informed perspective. This contrast is central to his issue, merging historical elements with contemporary ones. A significant portfolio, shot in Martens’ hometown of Bruges, explores this theme. Photographer Arnaud Lajeunie and stylist Ursina Gysi captured 10 years of Y/Project on iconic Belgian models such as Anouck Lepere, Delphine Bafort, Kim Peers, Anne-Catherine Lacroix, and Roos Van Bosstraeten throughout the medieval city.
